The Mayfair blocks
Mayfair itself covers W1K and W1J from Grosvenor Square to Shepherd Market and is the quarter asked for most often. West of it, the Park Lane hotel row takes the late evening at the end of a working day. East, the W1S blocks by Bond Street fill with daylight appointments between the salerooms and the arcades.
South of those, three short streets each have a character of their own. Berkeley Square is written around the hour before dinner. Albemarle Street is where this house sends a first meeting, because it has a tea room at one end and three good dinners within four minutes. Dover Street is the one to read if what matters most is an arrival nobody remarks upon.

South of the park, and one address west
Green Park straddles W1J and SW1A and takes the evenings arranged from a departure lounge, since the station beneath it runs to both airports without a change. Below it, the whole SW1 postcode gathers Belgravia, Westminster, Victoria and St James's into one page for anyone unsure which district their address belongs to.
Within that postcode, the Belgravia squares are the quietest ground this house attends, the Knightsbridge park strip runs from the grand hotels down to the museums, and the small hotels around Sloane Square open onto the King's Road. West of all of it, Notting Hill is the one address on the list that is not central, and the one where an evening is expected to stay behind a front door.
