One tariff covers the whole circle, so nothing on this page turns on which companion you choose; it turns only on how many hours you want. Each figure goes into your thread before anybody sets out, and it is the figure your companion is given when she arrives.

The same ladder, whoever she is
Every woman in this circle is quoted from this one ladder, at any hour and on any day of the week. Travel is included inside Zones 1 and 2, and beyond them the taxi fare both ways is quoted to you in writing first.
The fee is handed to the companion in person when she arrives, and it is for her time and her companionship only. Hours can be added while the arrangement is running, at the same ladder, and she says whether her night has the room.
Three hours of notice or more and a cancelled evening costs nothing. Inside two hours half the fee still stands, and an evening nobody appears for carries the whole of it. At the door she allows a quarter of an hour.
Nothing on this page is an estimate. The figure the switchboard confirms in writing is the figure for the arrangement, and it is the only figure in it.

Why the ladder bends the way it does
The figures are deliberately kinder the longer the evening runs. An hour is £250, yet two hours are £500 rather than the arithmetic, three are £700, and ten hours overnight come to £1,800, a long way below what those hours would cost taken one at a time.
That is not a promotion but a preference. A companion who is not watching a clock is better company than one who is.

What the figure covers, and what it does not
It buys her hours, counted from her arrival at your door to her leaving it, and her company throughout. It buys her journey to you anywhere inside the first two fare zones, a suite on Park Lane or a house on one of the Belgravia squares alike. Every woman in the Salon works from this one ladder.
It buys nothing further, and nothing further exists at any figure. Whatever the evening itself costs is the host's affair: the table, the seats, the trolley at midnight.

Travel, zones and the airports
Almost every evening in this book happens inside the two central fare zones, and there her travel sits inside the fee with nothing added. Where an address lies further out, Delphine works the fare both ways into one written total before you agree.
Evenings at a Heathrow or Gatwick hotel run differently: three hours or longer, her travelling time counted inside them, quoted as a single sum. If you are coming into town anyway, a central address such as the Green Park corner is simpler.

At the door, when plans move, and running on
Your companion is paid in person when she arrives, at the figure already written in your thread. That same confirmation carries her name, the length and the minute she is due, so everything the night depends on is in writing before the car sets off.
If the evening has to move, three hours of warning or more costs nothing. Inside two hours, half the agreed fee stands, and an evening that nobody appears for is charged in full, with a quarter of an hour of grace on the start.
If anything holds your companion up, the switchboard says so at the time and offers you another hour or another name. Her delay is never taken out of your hours, which start at the door.
If an evening is going well and you want it to run longer, write to Delphine: where the day book allows, she rewrites the booking at the next length rather than adding hours informally, so two hours at £500 becomes three at £700, and your companion is told the corrected figure first.

Is a shorter booking ever discounted, or a longer one loaded?
Neither. The ladder above is the whole of it. Midnight is priced as seven in the evening, Sunday as Tuesday, and an hour booked twenty minutes ahead as one booked a fortnight ahead. Nor does any companion here carry a figure different from the rest.
What does an evening with two companions cost?
Each companion is booked at the ordinary tariff for her own hours, so if both stay for three hours the evening is £700 twice over. The two lengths need not match, since one can leave after two hours while the other stays for four, and Delphine writes each figure on its own line in your thread.
What does the weekend line mean by on request?
That the figure is written for you rather than printed in advance. Two days or more turns on the dates, on whether it is spent here or elsewhere, and on what the days are meant to hold, so Delphine takes the outline and sends back one sum before a single plan is fixed.
Does the hour begin when she sets out or when she arrives?
When she arrives at your door. Traffic, a slow lift and a long corridor are this house's problem rather than yours, and a delay never comes out of the time you booked.
Can two different lengths be booked on the same evening?
There is no need. Take the longer of the two and use it as you please; the tariff prices a block of time, not a programme. If you genuinely want her to leave and return, say so when you write and Delphine will tell you whether the diary allows it.
Is travel to an address outside London possible?
Yes, and it is quoted as a single sum in advance rather than added to afterwards. Give Delphine the destination, the dates and the length, and she sends one figure covering the journey both ways.
