01

About Molly

Molly laughs before she sits down, usually at something that happened on the way, and the evening is better for it from that moment. At 164 cm she is curvy, the dark brown hair long and waving of its own accord, the brown eyes narrowing when she is amused. She dresses for comfort and gets away with it: a soft dress, a wide belt, a coat she has clearly had for years and refuses to replace. Nothing about her is stiff.

She is the warmest company on this roster and the least guarded. She talks in English at pace, doubles back constantly, and tells stories against herself with real enjoyment. Food is the thing she cares about most: not the reputation of a room but the actual plate in front of her. She grew up cooking, she still does, and she has been known to ask a waiter what the kitchen staff are eating.

Dover Street is where she likes to be early, at Chucs, where the room is small and striped and the coffee is worth sitting over. She will start there before dinner rather than after, because she maintains that the first hour of an evening is wasted if it is spent deciding anything. Soho is home, six minutes on foot, so she walks up through the back streets and arrives having already decided where the evening should go next.

More about Dover Street in the evening is on its page, with the lengths at rates. Your date, sent through booking, is placed by Delphine.

Arranging her evening

Molly likes to begin at six with a coffee before anything is decided, so Delphine will usually suggest the longer lengths. The date and the address are all she needs to set it up.

Her figures are the house figures, set out in full on the rates page, and the whole arrangement runs in one written exchange from the first line to the confirmation.

An evening with Molly

The first hour has no plan in it, which is exactly how she wants it. Molly orders a coffee, then a second one, and talks until the shape of the evening has worked itself out. She is a natural at this. By the time you leave the table the night has been arranged without anybody having made a decision out loud.

Dinner is chosen for the food rather than the address, and she will walk twenty minutes to get to the better kitchen without complaint. She eats with obvious pleasure and insists you try whatever she ordered. Later she becomes quieter and rather fond, and the stories get smaller and more personal. What happens at the end of the evening is yours to say, and she takes it as it comes.

Before you write

Molly, in her own words

Reputation or the plate?

The plate, every single time. Some of the best food in London is served in rooms nobody photographs. I order three starters and a pudding and let the main courses go to somebody else.

Do you really ask what the staff are eating?

Always, and it is always better than the menu. They have no reason to lie to you about it.

Why start with coffee?

Because an hour of nothing in particular is the best preparation for an evening. Everything after it goes more easily.

Remarks

What guests have written

Nothing is written here for Molly yet, which in a house this size is usually what discretion looks like. A remark is put up after a guest has offered one, she has agreed to it in writing, and Delphine has satisfied herself that it carries a first name, a month and no private detail of any kind.
