About Milena

Milena stands 175 cm and does nothing at all to reduce it. She is curvy, with long black hair worn straight to the waist and brown eyes that look at a person steadily rather than brightly. Her clothes are severe and expensive looking: a long dark dress, a coat with weight to it, one ring and nothing more. She moves slowly and sits very still, and the effect on a busy room is that it settles slightly around her.

Her conversation is the opposite of her appearance, which is the pleasure of her. In English, the only language she has, she is chatty, opinionated and quick to laugh at herself. She is curious about how people ended up where they are, asks about it directly, and treats the answer as a story rather than an explanation. She has no small talk at all and is perfectly happy to say so.

Sloane Square is where she likes to be at eight o'clock. The Botanist on the square suits her because it is busy without being frantic and the tables by the window look straight out at the plane trees. She comes over from South Kensington, ten minutes by cab or twenty on foot when the evening is dry. Afterwards she walks down Lower Sloane Street towards the river, which she claims is the most underrated ten minutes in Chelsea.

Arranging her evening

Milena takes one evening a night and no more, and she prefers them to run past midnight rather than end early. Delphine needs only the date and the address.

An evening with Milena

The first thing she does is ask how you came to be doing whatever it is you do, and she means all of it, from the beginning. Milena treats a life story as an evening's entertainment and she is a generous audience for one. She sits very still while she listens and she does not look at the room once.

Her own stories come out later and they are better than she thinks they are. She is funny about herself in a way that takes people by surprise, given the way she looks when she walks in. Around eleven she suggests the walk down towards the river, which takes ten minutes and always takes twenty. What happens at the end of it is entirely your decision, and she will not press for one version over another.
