About Luna

Red hair of that particular dark auburn shade is not something a woman can be discreet about, and Luna has stopped attempting it. She is 171 cm and curvy, and she carries both the height and the colour without adjustment. Her eyes are brown, which surprises people who expect green. She dresses in strong single colours, deep greens and blacks, with sleeves rather than straps and a hem that moves. She has an excellent instinct for when to add nothing else at all.

At twenty two she is the youngest of the house and one of the most self assured. Her English is warm and quick and she laughs easily, though she is harder to impress than her manner suggests. Music is the thing she cares about, and she has decided views on where it should be heard and at what volume. She asks questions in threes and remembers the answers for months.

Mayfair is home and the bar on Carlos Place is where she takes an evening when she wants it done properly. She sits at the bar rather than a table, watches the martini trolley work its way round, and orders something that takes time. Afterwards she prefers the small streets to the main ones: Mount Street, then Farm Street, then the mews behind it, where the noise of Berkeley Square never quite reaches.

Her corner of Mayfair has a page of its own, and what a length includes is at rates. Hand the date to booking and it is held.

Arranging her evening

Luna's evenings usually start at eight and she would rather one long one than two short ones. Delphine will take the date and confirm the hour once the bar is spoken for.

Her figures are the house figures, set out in full on the rates page, and the whole arrangement runs in one written exchange from the first line to the confirmation.

An evening with Luna

She takes the bar seats without asking, because she has learned that the whole evening is better from there. Luna watches a drink being made the way other people watch a match, and she will tell you what the bartender did differently from last time. The first hour goes quickly and she does most of the talking, which she is aware of and does not much regret.

The second hour is the good one. She slows down, the questions get better, and she wants to know things about you that nobody has asked in years. When the room fills she would rather leave than shout, so she takes the side door and walks. Mount Street, Farm Street, the mews behind the church, and by then the evening has arranged itself. Anything further is yours to decide, and she is content either way.

Before you write

Luna, in her own words

Table or bar?

Bar, always. A table faces you at one person and a bar faces you at the whole room, which is far more entertaining.

What is wrong with most music in bars?

It is loud enough to notice and quiet enough to ignore, which is the worst of both. Either mean it or turn it off.

Do you like the hair?

Now, yes. At fifteen I would have paid somebody to take it away. It has grown on me, which is a poor joke I make too often.

Remarks

What guests have written

Nothing is written here for Luna yet, which in a house this size is usually what discretion looks like. A remark is put up after a guest has offered one, she has agreed to it in writing, and Delphine has satisfied herself that it carries a first name, a month and no private detail of any kind.
