Fifteen brunettes, and the whole range of brown between them
More than half the circle is brown haired. That makes this the widest of the twelve and, taken on its own, much the least informative. Fifteen women, and the colour runs the entire distance from sandy to something very close to black.
They are grouped below by where each of them sits on that range, with build, age and eyes alongside, because the colour on its own tells you almost nothing.

The light end: sandy, sun lifted and warm
Vanessa is 25 and slim at 173 cm, the sandy brown lifted with balayage and the eyes hazel. Laura is 25 and athletic at 169 cm, her light brown lightened at the ends by real sun rather than by a salon, with green eyes that get mentioned first every time. Bianka is 23 and curvy at 165 cm, light brown with sun-kissed ends and hazel eyes that are very direct indeed.

Chestnut, straight and curled
Jasmin is 22 and petite at 160 cm, the chestnut long and straight and the questions faster than anybody else here asks them. Liana is 28 and slim at 167 cm, the same chestnut worn straight and the manner considerably more formal. Rosa is 25 and curvy at 160 cm, chestnut in curls, with a face that is permanently about to smile.

Dark brown, worn straight
Margo is 31 and slim at 166 cm, the dark brown dead straight and the gaze entirely still. Michelle is 27 and curvy at 173 cm, the same colour and the best posture in the circle. Samanta is 27 and slim at 174 cm, dark brown worn simply, short sentences and long pauses. Sonya, 32 and athletic at 162 cm, wears dark brown straight and is the calmest company in the house.

Dark brown, left to its own devices
Molly is 24 and curvy at 164 cm, the dark brown waving of its own accord, the brown eyes narrowing whenever she is amused. Lucy is 24 and slender at 163 cm, long dark curls doing whatever they have decided to do that evening, and she is entirely untroubled by the question.

The deep end: chocolate, espresso and near black
Tiffany is 24, finely built at 169 cm, the chocolate brown long and the attention complete for as long as you are talking. Tina is 26 and athletic at 158 cm, espresso brown, and the fastest company here by a distance. Stacy is 22, slim and 176 cm, her brown sitting at the very bottom of the range and taken for black by most of the rooms she walks into.

Choosing by the evening rather than the shade
With fifteen to choose from, the evening is a better guide than the colour. For a play, Stacy; for a lecture, Jasmin; for a film, Laura. Lucy suits a gallery in the late afternoon, Samanta a room worth arguing about, and Rosa the arcades and the small workshops. Liana, Vanessa and Tiffany all prefer a long dinner and are at their best in the third hour. Molly and Michelle give the warmest first hour in the circle, Margo and Sonya the steadiest company for a difficult week, Bianka is the one to ask for a counter seat, and Tina the one to ask when notice is short.

Where the fifteen keep their evenings
Knightsbridge has three of them in Bianka, Margo and Sonya, and SW1 three more in Lucy, Michelle and Tiffany. Laura and Vanessa both keep to Notting Hill, Jasmin and Tina share Albemarle Street, and Samanta stays in Mayfair. Liana has Park Lane, Stacy Sloane Square, Rosa Bond Street and Molly Dover Street. Most of them keep to one district after dark rather than crossing town for a table.
